The ‘best’ method of distributing an airline ticket has always been a hot topic of debate within the travel industry. This report examines the channel split of where an airline’s passengers boarded are sold.


T2RL believes that airlines need to understand the dynamics of where, why and how their tickets are being sold and to use their available distribution channels to the best of their ability to gain the most net revenue possible. This key measure may be defined as total flown revenue minus total channel cost. The cheapest method of distribution often does not bring the most revenue. It is also important to consider the impact of bookings made but not flown which may incur channel costs but not deliver any flown revenue. When considering passenger volumes in this report we will look at Passengers Boarded (PBs).
